After approximately 15,000 copies the machine displays the 'Drum Warning' message. Approximately 1,000 more copies can be made, at which time the 'Replace Drum' message will be displayed, and the machine will stop operating until the Drum Cartridge is replaced.
NOTE: If the Drum is replaced before the 'Drum Warning' message has been displayed, the Drum counter must be reset to zero using the Menu options. If this is not done, a premature 'Drum Warning' and 'Replace Drum' message will be generated. To replace the Drum Cartridge:
1. Pull the release latch on the right-hand side of the Side Cover to open the cover.
2. Open the Front Cover. 3. Turn the Toner (Dry Ink) locking lever upward to release the Toner Cartridge. The locking lever is beige in color and is located below a larger green lever.
4. Once unlocked, remove the Toner Cartridge by pulling it out of the machine. NOTE: The Toner Cartridge must be removed in order to replace the Drum Cartridge. 5. Remove the Drum Cartridge from the machine. The cartridge is about half the width of the Toner Cartridge, but approximately the same length. Put the old Drum Cartridge in the box that the new cartridge was shipped in.
6. Remove the new Drum Cartridge from the box. NOTE: Do not touch the surface of the Drum. 7. Slide the new Drum Cartridge into the machine until it clicks into place. 8. Re-install the Toner Cartridge by sliding it back into the machine. Make sure the cartridge clicks into place. 9. Turn the Toner locking lever downward until it locks.
10. Close the Front Cover and the Side Cover. 11. On the LCD screen a message is automatically displayed, 'New Drum Unit?' 1. Yes 2. No. 12. Use the arrow buttons to select [Yes], then press the [Enter / Select] button on the Control Panel. To reset the Drum counter: 13. Press the [Menu / Exit] button on the Control Panel.
14. Press the [Down] arrow button to scroll to the Maintenance menu, then press [Enter / Select]. 15. Press the [Down] arrow button to scroll and select [New Drum]. 16. Press [Enter / Select]. The LCD Screen will display a message 'New Drum Unit?' 1:YES 2:NO 17. Use the arrow buttons to select [Yes], then press the [Enter / Select] button on the Control Panel.
